    Handwritten March 29, 1783 Amelia & Mecklenburg County Virginia Sheriff's Warrant for Tobacco Seizure.
    Parts of this document appear to have been written in three hands:
    1)  Excellent handwriting leaving space to fill in blanks
    2)  Handwriting filling in the blanks
    3)  Handwriting to cross out "Amelia" on the top line and change to "Mecklenburg" and place a new signature at the bottom of the Mecklenburg Clerk of the Court over the Amelia Clerk of Court Signature.
    At the top "Amelia County."
    Content includes "The Commonwealth of Virginia to the Sheriff of Amelia [crossed out to Mecklenburg] County Greeting we command you that the goods and chattles of William Johnson and John Wilson late in your Bailiwick you cause to be made twenty pounds one shilling and nine pence with lawful interest theron from the 31 day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand and Seven Hundred and Seventy Seven until paid which James Wade late in our said court of Amelia hath recovered against them for Damages also two hundred and seventy seven Pounds of Gross Tobacco and Fifteen shilling or one hundred and fifty pounds of Tobacco for his Costs on his behalf expended.  Whereof they are caused to appear to us of Record and that you have the same before the Justices of our said County Court on the 4th Thursday in May next to render to the said James Wade of the Debt and Cash aforesaid and have there these this with witness, T. G. Peachy Clerk of our said Court the 29th Day of March 1783 in the seventh year of our Independence."
