    Description

You are bidding on an 1863 Ottoman Empire (
    Turkey
    ) Montenegro Campaign Medal.
The medal is used and is in good condition with limited signs of wear or age.
The Turkish inscription on the reverse of the medal reads: "Relying on the Assistance of Almighty God, Sultan Abdulaziz, Sovereign of the Ottoman Empire.".
The medal was instituted in 1863 by Sultan Abdulaziz, and was awarded to the Ottoman Forces under the command of Omar Pasha (Ottoman governor of Bosnia-Herzegovina) who fought in the war with
    Montenegro
    .
The Montenegrin–Ottoman War was fought between the Principality of Montenegro and the
    Ottoman Empire
    from 1861 to 1862. In 1861
    Montenegro
    encouraged a independence revolt in
    Herzegovina
. The Ottoman Army then invaded
    Montenegro
    .
After a year of fighting the war ended with an Ottoman victory and
    Montenegro
was forced to acknowledge Ottoman rule. Be sure to check out my other auctions for more military collectibles. Good luck and happy bidding!
