May 1953 from the 5th Bn/3rd REI (Foreign Legion Regiment), in North Vietnam. In 1954 relocated to the Plateaux Montagnards.
Type 2 with the background behind the dragon divided diagonally red & gold, and the complete dragon is superimposed.
