Inspired by Artwork of Salvador Dali RARE Elgin American Bird Compact/Lipstick

Up for sale a very RARE Elgin American compact and lipstick holder from the 1950's in the shape of a gold and silver feathered bird with red eyes.  This compact design was inspired by the work of Salvador Dali the famous Surrealist artist and provocateur.  The piece measures 1.25" x 4.5" x 2.5".  The bird compact and lipstick holder is signed "Dali" on top of the bird's head.  When you pull out the bird's head it reveals a lipstick holder.  The compact part of the design opens at the tail revealing a shiny silver interior and a heart shaped mirror.  The powder compart lid is engine-turned in a geometric design.  Also on this inner lid is the Elgin American signature which states:  "Elgin American Made in the USA Pat Pend".  Below the powder compart is a small compartment in the tall of the bird.  Perhaps it would be used for rouge.  This rare Salvador Dali inspired bird compact is in good condition with normal signs of age, wear and use.  There is some minor spots of enamel loss particularly on the shoulders of the bird's wings.  Free shipping!  If you have any questions about this unusual and scarce vanity item, please contact me.
